Food crops traders in Ruhango district are being asked to stop mixing pesticides with the food crops (foodstuff) because they can have negative effects on human health when consumed.

Crops dealers have been applying insects repellent with cereal crops like maize, sorghum, millet, and others without excluding several types of beans. Antoine Mutunzi who is in charge of Cooperatives and investments in Ruhango district said it is a very big mistake because it puts human life at risk and whoever is caught doing it will be seriously punished.
Mutunzi said these when he was in a meeting with trader representatives in Ruhango district. “We have been receiving information of traders who deal in food stuffs mixed with pesticides yet they know very well that it is putting human life at risk and any person caught will be handled according to the law,” Mutunzi revealed.
He said that the number of people doing business in Ruhango district is not known yet but they are carrying out census so that in a few days to come, the number of trading people will be revealed. Business people tend to do that preventing crops from various pests attack
