AIDS scourge is one of the diseases that have killed many people in the world. In a way of encouraging people to fight against it, Nyabihu district made resolutions of which include sensitizing people to participate in voluntary testing.

People are participating in voluntary testing

Pierre Dusenge the health personnel in Nyabihu district reports, the number of people testing HIV/AIDS to know their status have increased compared to what was expected and this gives hope that local people need to know their statuses and make resolutions about their health.

Starting from July 2011 to April 2012, about 73735 people tested for HIV/AIDS voluntarily compared to 44758 expected people and the reason for this increase is the sensitization that was done in different sectors and cells and people participated in them regularly.

Teachings about AIDS are passed in different ways like dramas

The health level in Nyabihu district has done everything possible to sensitize people to fight against HIV/AIDS as a scourge that can destroy a country. Teachings are passed through meetings in villages, in health centres, in different trainings, in dramas and others.

Every Rwandan has a responsibility to promote health, remembering those who lost their lives to HIV/AIDS as the theme for this year 2012 says that everyone should learn from those that lost their lives and protect their lives from AIDS.
