American Pediatricians, in their research reveal that children who play with dogs always rare suffer from respiratory and ear diseases compared to those who never see domestic animals.
However, researchers did not confirm if playing with the dog more often strengthens the immune system of the child in the first year of life.
Although cats prevent some diseases in children, it is at a lower percentage compared to dogs, researchers reveal.
Research was carried out on 397 children in Finland and parents could report the health of the children to Pediatrics Newspaper on a daily basis from 9weeks old to one year old. It was discovered that chances of catching cough, flue and other respiratory diseases reduce by 30percent while ear diseases reduce by 50percent in children in homes with dogs and cats.
The study conducted by experts from the University Hospital Kuopio in Finland says: “Children who got close to cats and dogs during the research had good health”
