Residents of Bugesera district have made it a point to join associations so as to be able to pay for medical insurance (Mutuelle de santé) through groups in these associations.
Apart from making it easy for members to pay for their medical insurances, associations have also helped not to spend much time waiting on long queue to pay as John Rudasingwa the health official in Bugesera district said.
“We had a meeting with residents and called upon them to pay their contribution for 2012/20123 medical insurance by joining associations where they can pay in installments till it is fully paid.” Rudasingwa explained.
He asked people to pay for their medical insurances very soon as the economic year ended in June 2012 but they were given an extension of one month while they are paying for new ones mean while using old ones.
The conditions to the use of the medical insurance are the same like last year and a card will be given to a family that has paid the entire amount. Those who will get their new cards before the end of July will be able to use the card immediately while those who will acquire it after the 1st.August will wait one month before using these cards.
He asked people to look out and work with banks and financial institutions so as to pay their contributions easily. In Bugesera district the group of associations is made up between 50 to 60 families.
