Twenty three (23) health advisers in Nyakamira in Rwankuba sector Karongi district are said to continue battling poverty, and have been praised for the good job.
As the sing of appreciation for their services, these Health Advisors have been given Rwf6.000 each from Musango health center for sensitizing people to participate in different medical services.
These tokens of appreciation were given to them during the celebration of presentation of 2011/2012 performing contracts of cells in Rwankuba sector.
The money they were given is to support each one of them to buy a small animal to rear while achieving the objective of making people in Nyakamira cell fight poverty and poor eating habits.
Health advisors that were appreciated are from ‘Turengere Ubuzima’ cooperative which works with Musango health center due to their exemplary actions as Violette Mukangira who is in charge of following up the actions of health advisors.
“We looked at many things before deciding which cooperative to get the appreciation token including bringing tuberculosis patients to the health center, weighing children in villages, accompanying expectant mothers to attend antenatal services before 4 months of pregnancy and sensitizing people about family planning. These health advisors also helped in distributing medicine to people in their homes.” Violette Mukangira said.
Vestine Nyirampakaniye who has been working as a health worker for 3 year and who has been given the token of appreciation twice including the Rwf6000 said that she is happy to be rendering services to people though it is much of volunteering with no pay but with this token of appreciation, she is going to buy a small animal to get manure for her vegetables and improve her social welfare and that of her family.
Eugenie Bahimbandi the executive secretary of Nyakamira cell said that the development of this cell is all due to forming of cooperatives as they have cooperatives that are on the level of buying a lorry DAIHATSU bought at Rwf30million, 2 motorcycles for health advisors and building a house that is worth more than 2million francs.
