Public transporters going across borders are asking government to provide medical screening kits to prevent the spread of Ebola from neighboring Uganda.

So far over fifteen people have died including one in Kampala, following the outbreak in Kibale district in western Uganda three weeks ago.

A worker for regional bus Kampala coach claims there is no screening at border the border posts.

“For us we are still carrying on with our business through cross as usual and we don’t see medical kits around border posts to screen people, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania” Kagabo Moses, employee of Kampala Coach says.

According to an official from the immigration office, known as Ange, says the ministry of health is taking control of their situation while theirs is travel document business as usual.

An official with Nyabugogo International Park who preferred to remain unanimous says the ministry of health should provide mobile medical services around the park to screen passengers coming to the country.

Ebola is one of the most virulent diseases in the world. It is spread by close personal contact and kills up to 90% of those who become infected.

There is no vaccine for the virus. Ugandan health officials are trying to trace everyone who had had contact with victims so that they could be quarantined.
