All residents will have contributed for 2012-2013 mutuelle de santé before December 2012, says Mrs. Juliette Muhawenimana, Rusizi district worker in charge of mutual health mobilization.
This was revealed on October 11th 2012 in Nzahaha sector in Rusizi district, during the meeting with local leaders at different levels to design measures of increasing residents’ numbers towards embracing 2012-2013 health insurance programs (mutuelle de santé).
This comes after residents were allowed to pay in halves for the medical insurance since most of them cannot afford paying at once.
However, these measures did not increase the number of residents in paying for 2012-2013 medical insurance (MUSA), forcing the district authorities to set up a new program “Ubwisungane mu kwivuza Urugo k’Urundi”.
Mrs. Juliette Muhawenimana told the participants to put more effort in sensitizing residents, to embrace this program and prevent the outcomes involved like death, family wrangles and poverty.
“All residents should complete their contributions before December 2012, and the number of people in the family should match with the contribution made,” she says
The participants pledged to sensitise residents so that they complete paying for mutuelle de santé by December 2012.
During the meeting, Reverand Pastor Gabriel Bazerumuhana revealed that leaders play a big role in discouraging residents whereby, they do not contribute first and act as examples to the people they lead.
Lt. Colonel Masumbuko addressing the attendees
Also, Lt. Colonel Masumbuko, reminded residents to keep security through night patrolling, giving information on time and registering the names of residents that come in and out of the area.
Rusizi district has paid 40 percent and Nzahaha sector is the 14th out of 18 sectors that contribute for the health program.
