Many Parents with infants, toddlers and older children on Tuesday 12th.March.2013 attended at Nemba health center for the vaccination against Measles and Rubella, a program that intends to improve social health in the area.
This is in the week for children awareness program that starts on Tuesday 12th.March to Friday the 15th.March.2013.
Children between 6 months and 15 years will be vaccinated against Measles and Rubella in these 4 days, parents and children will be given Vitamin A while female teenagers will be vaccinated against cervical cancer.
Elisabeth Uwimana the head of health advisors in Mucaca cell in Nemba sector said health advisors and local leaders did a lot of sensitization to local people and announcements were made through churches to attend these vaccinations program.
For Clementine Maziyateke the deputy director of Nemba health center say the program of vaccination is going on smoothly and they are sure that even though people did not come in great numbers, they will participate in the following days.
Maziyateke explains that this vaccination will give children the immunity to fight these two diseases of measles and Rubella and ensure their good growth. Blandine Uwingabire a mother vaccinating her child says vaccination is good for a child’s growth and free vaccination is a sign that the government values its people.
About 12300 children will be vaccinated against measles and rubella and more than 4300 will be given vitamin A and 500 will be vaccinated against cervical; cancer in the zone of Nemba Health Center.
