Dufatanye cooperative made of people living with HIV/Aids launched a commercial building on December 23rd 2013 in Busasamana sector. The Rwf17 million building will be used for business offices space.
The cooperative that deals in growing vegetables and animal farming, operates in Busasamana sector in Nyanza district.
During the launching event, Dufatanye cooperative members said they had no hope before forming the cooperative compared to the present saying they are able to take care of their needs.
Another achievement highlighted during the event is how some members have been able to build residential houses as Marie Grace Mukashema, president of the cooperative affirmed.
In her speech, Mukashema explained that the new house will be rented for functions and that cooperative members will use it for conferences.
Constance Mukarubibi, whose life has changed after discovering the secret of being in a cooperative advises other residents to form cooperatives and associations for quick growth.
Claude Ngoga Karame, coordinator of Anti-Aids commission in Nyanza district said Dufatanye cooperative members have made a good step in setting up income generating projects like the commercial house, vegetable growing and livestock.
Members of cooperatives were asked to keep up the spirit and sensitise other residents living with HIV/Aids to form associations and cooperatives for social economic development.
Dufatanye cooperative has 46 members ; 40 women and 6 men.
