Rwanda Youth organization for Sustainable Development (RYOSD) operating in Kigali city has committed to support the National Police in the fight against drugs abuse.
The youth made the commitment while meeting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Damas Gatare on 09, Feb 2014.
Gatare was introducing and presenting to the youth types of drugs that are regularly found in Rwanda and their subsequent effects.

Some of the effects explained by ACP Damas Gatare include being punished by the law, dropping out of school. Committing of crimes such as violence, murder, rape, theft and many others.
Members of RYOSD were asked to join the police and other security personnel to fight drug abuse. They RYOSD will participate in the war against drugs by giving out information about usage and trade of drugs that can cause insecurities.
Richard Hategekimana the coordinator of RYOSD said the organization is made up of more than 600 members countrywide. He said RYOSD intends to be an exemplary organization in the fight against drugs and other crimes in Rwanda.
“Members of RYOSD have decided to fight drug abuse to eradication through teaching all youth the dangers of drugs misuse, creating jobs and maintaining security” said Hategekimana.
