A week to care for mothers and children’s health and vaccinating against uterus cancer to young girls for the 3rd and last time was officially started on the 16th.Oct.2012 in Kirehe district. Jacqueline Murekatete the vice mayor for social affairs in Kirehe district who presided over the function asked all parents to participate in all programs prepared in this week.
She warned Parents to stop making their children get absent in schools avoiding being vaccinated for uterus cancer which is utterly important and asked Primary Six pupils to learn with much courage and pass their National Examinations which they are yet to do.
Narcisse Dukuzumuremyi the director of Kirehe Health Center said that this week has many programs like vaccinating Primary Six pupils and Senior Three students.
They will also provide pills for Iron and Mebendazole to pregnant women, women who gave birth in less than 3 months period. Women with children between 1 year and 5 years will be given Vitamin A compliments.
Jean Damascène Kayiranga the health officer in Kirehe district asked young girls to encourage their fellows to participate in this vaccination against uterus cancer and reminded them to always use soap while washing hands for hygiene purposes.
All people who attended this week’s launch were given syrup to clean water ensuring better sanitation and hygiene.
