After weeks of patients decrying the shortage of medicine at Kibagabaga hospital, the ministry of health has set up measures to ensure that the hospital gets timely and consistent supply of medicines.
According to the permanent secretary in the ministry of health, Dr Uzziel Ndagijimana, a task force has been established to follow up the issues and coordinate the supply of medicine from the Gasabo district pharmacy- where the hospital is located.
The resolve comes after residents raised complaints over lack of medicine at the Kibagabaga hospital which serves as a referral hospital. The patients say that they are compelled to purchase medicine outside the hospital, which is a time wasting process and expensive at the same time.
However, Dr. Ndagijimana said that this inconveniences have been caused due to lack of funds and poor coordination between the district pharmacy and the hospital administration.
Ndagijimana also assured the community that this problem will be resolved and monitored closely so as to improve health services at the hospital.
The Kibagabaga hospital representative, Dr Muvunyi Jean Baptiste also confirmed the developments saying that the patients have been going under a rough time to look for medicine, which is in most cases not available in private pharmacies.
