The vice-mayor for social affairs in Nyamagabe district, Emile Byiringiro has revealed that the district administration will provide materials and labour for the new health post in Buteteri cell, Mushubi sector in Nyamagabe district.
The vice mayor said this while thanking Buteteri cell residents for an exemplary act of building a health post that will save residents from making long distances on bad roads to reach the health centre.
Buteteri residents say they got tired of making between 15 and 20 kilometers to access health care.
“We shall help them get hospital equipments, nurses and doctors so that residents access better services,” adds Byiringiro.
Hossea Nirere, one of the residents asserts. “This is our contribution as residents of this cell. We thought it wise to follow the advice from H.E Paul Kagame and built our own health post.”
Apart from this health post (a branch of Mushubi health centre), residents plan to build the quarters for the nurses and doctors that will be working at Buteteri health post.
Occupied by 4423 people, Buteteri cell emerged the first cell to embrace mutual health program 100 percent in 2012-2013.
Health post construction started in September 2012 after residents’ contributions and community work.
It is expected to cost close to Rwf12 millions land cost exclusive.
