Parents in Kayonza district say the new program that brings vaccination program in their villages is aiding them more in the health of their children.
This program has reduced on the journeys they have been making to health Centers for vaccination of their children prompting some to miss out on vaccination appointments.
This vaccination program is being done by health workers in Kayonza district where they move around villages vaccinating children. Children aged from 1 and half months to 9 months are the main target of this program as Alphonse Ngarambe the health official in Kayonza district.
“The time we used to spend going to health centers for vaccination is now put in other work which is helping out a lot. This is because we know the vaccination program will find us in our places” says Immaculate Mukabahire a resident of Nyamirama sector.
Another resident called Daphrose Kampire says this program has been so helpful. “it was a good way of putting the required services near us.” This program combines parents in 2 or 3 villages on one day and vaccinates them as Ngarambe explains.
Sometimes this program is brought to the market place where most mothers are either selling or buying goods so that no child misses out on the opportunity to be immunized.
This program is bringing out more hope for the health of children since most parents did not give vaccination a thought but now chances are given to all of them.
