Muyongwe Health centre in Gakenke district will open and offer medical services by February, 2014.
“All the needed medical equipment is available, we are only waiting on the Ministry of Health (MINISANTE) to decide on the medical staff,” Odette Uwitonze, Gakenke vice mayor for economic affairs has said.
“We are excited about having a nearby health centre. Anytime a child gets sick, one can get help immediately,” says Epiphanie Mutuyimana, a parent who resides near the health center.
Apart from Muyongwe sector residents, the health centre will benefit residents from the neighboring sectors of Bushoki in Rulindo district.
Gakenke district plans to build at least one health centre in each of its 19 sectors.
