Health Centers Directors in Kirehe District met on Wednesday 5th, 03, 2014 met in a conference preparing for a weekly program for health of mothers, infants and teenagers in Kirehe Multipurpose hall.
Dr. Ferdinand Hakorimana who is in charge of mothers’ health in the Ministry of Health explained the weekly program commenced on Tuesday 11th, 03, 2014.
The main objectives of this program include vaccinating children against Rubella and Measles especially to children who were vaccinated against measles last year 2013.
The female teenagers between 12 and 14 years will be vaccinated against cervical cancer. The pregnant mothers will be de-wormed alongside children aged 1 to 5 years. Nursing mothers who gave birth in about 6 weeks and children with 6 months to 5 years will be given Vitamin A pills.
The weekly program for the health of the mothers, children and teenagers will also include sensitization programs on different types of family planning. Expectant mothers will be vaccinated against tetanus.
The programs on a week timeline will be provided through all health centers in the district and in all other children vaccination sites.
Dr. Jean Nepomuscene Uwilingiyemungu the director of Kirehe Hospital says it is time for the improved sensitization program for all people to know about the need for vaccinations and other health programs to be applied.
